Energy & agriculture

These days, it's hard to do without energy. When we look at the energy issue through the prism of agriculture, a number of questions arise:

• Is there a place for agrivoltaics? We're convinced it does, but only under certain conditions. First and foremost, farming must always remain a major priority. The challenge is to develop models that enable agrivoltaics to develop within the various sectors, so as to bring real added value to farming.
• Biomethanization: already well-established on cattle and pig farms, the potential for development remains significant. A number of questions arise: are smaller-scale models to meet the needs of the edible horticultural sector feasible and relevant? How can all the heat generated by these biomethanization units be used to benefit agricultural activities?
• How can energy be part of the solution to farmers' economic viability, particularly in the face of climate change?

This working group is still in a prospective phase, in order to define the most crucial issues for the edible horticultural sector and the small-scale edible animal sector to work on. It includes players representing agricultural needs, project developers and players from the energy sector.
